Additional Notes: The Ishapore 2A1, has an intriguing history. It originated in India and is a derivative of the British Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III rifle. After India gained independence in 1947, the Ishapore Rifle Factory (RFI) in Ishapore, West Bengal, continued producing firearms for the newly formed Indian armed forces. In the 1960s, the RFI embarked on a modernization program and introduced the 2A1 variant. The Ishapore 2A1 featured several modifications, including a chamber adapted for the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge, a new magazine design, and a strengthened bolt. It became the standard issue rifle for the Indian military and saw significant use during various conflicts
