First Impressions of the Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus Kick Off
I think it’s fair to say that most people’s first impression of a weapon is the price tag. Even as the store owner, I am no exception to this assumption. The Beretta A400XP comes in with a price tag of $1749.00 (priced at ECPOutdoors.com) at the time of writing this. However, once you are able to get this shotgun in your hands, you start understanding that price tag. The action is incredibly smooth, the balance feels very nice, and it’s a breeze bringing it to your shoulder. The Real Tree camo finish is ideal for waterfowl hunters and it’s gas driven system makes it very reliable for those conditions.
How it functions
The Beretta A400XP is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun. At some point we have either seen or heard how “picky” semi-auto shotguns are. However, having a gas-operated system greatly reduces this risk. Why? Simply put, it’s because the gas-operated system relies on the gas dispersed by the shot instead of the actual recoil from the load like an inertia driven system would do. This allows even the lightest of loads to still cycle properly.
Is the Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus worth the money?
Short answer: yes, it is worth the money. Here’s why:
The Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus Kick Off includes several High Tech Features, with the most noteworthy being their Beretta Steelium Plus barrel technology and the Kick Off Mega stock.
The Beretta A400 barrels are made of steel alloy with molybdenum, chromium, and nickel. Beretta puts these barrels through a process called Vacuum Relieving, an internal stress relieving process resulting in better performance and life line.
The Kick-Off mega system stock is incredibly effective at recoil-reduction. This is a giant plus for both waterfowl hunters and target shooters alike. This stock has a hydraulic recoil-dampening system located between the grip and buttstock that helps with reducing the overall axial movement making it less likely for the shooter to feel the smack effect on their cheek from the comb. By keeping the stock comfortably on the shooters face, the shooter can quickly move onto their next target quickly.
Update: I made a video showing off this shotgun along with what it comes with. Check it out here:
